Web Hosting

The first site I checked out was , Emenace. My requirements were that this web provider was absolutely free, and had no ads or banners on the page. Some distractions that bothered me about this web provider were that the site loaded very slowly and even when we deleted the code for Google ad it seemed to be added again. However we did decide to go ahead with this web provider because it seemed good for the group.
The second web provider I checked out was Free-Hostin. I had the same requirements for this web provider as I did for emenace.com and it met these requirements. However the distractions were a bit much to go ahead and use this web provider. This site had give-aways for free merchandise such as iPods and other items. I saw this as being a big distraction because chances are this site isn't completely free if they can give away those items.

I found a free web hosting site called MegaByet.com. I liked this site because it used cPanel version 11 which I have used in the past and I am very familiar with. With free version, it allows you 2 FTP accounts, 1 email account, 3 MYSQL databases, and 1.6GB disk space. MegaByet.com also is advertiser free which is a big plus.
With deceptive advertising dominating the web, ad free was also a big requirement for me. Additionally, ads that play music and auto load video drives me nuts. For these reasons MegaByet.com would have been a good alternative to Emenace.com.

I visited three sites. One of them however, was the directory site where you can check for free hosting web sites free-webhosts.
The first free web hosting site I visited was absolutely-free-hosting but they are definitely trying to make some money by placing ads on your free web site which is a distraction and it could be very annoying.
The second site I visited was emenace is also free and I found that it was less distracting for a visitor. However I found that it was somewhat slower to open the page initially. We all agreed that this will be our web provider.

I visited two sites claiming to offer free hosting and found the offering at Freehostia more preferable. Their Chocolate version is the free level with 250 MB of storage space. Two attractors were the easy sign up and the claim of no banner ads top or bottom, even in the Chocolate edition.
I also took a look at DotEasy and did not find any attractors. This site lures the potential customer in with free promises then hits you up for hidden fees at every turn. Each of these fees includes free web hosting and that factor makes this an undesirable free site.

The first site I visited was 110mb.com. I have used this site in the past and liked it. Why? Quite a few reasons. It's free of course. They have a BIG benefit in that it's ad free. They have a nice and easy interface when publishing. They also have an 8 mb file limit unlike most site which have a 500kb). The site inactivity limit is 150 days, so if you don't get around to editing in 30 days like others, you don't get deleted.
The second site I chose was AwardSpace.com. The benefits of this site are, no ads, PHP, mySql databases, and password protected files.
